lelagi•vai began with love, curiosity, and a quiet responsibility we felt as a family.

We’re Ash, Ants and Sammy, and this brand was inspired by Ash and Ants children, Tate and Romey. Watching them grow, we kept coming back to the same thought: how do we help them feel grounded in who they are from the very beginning? Through their Dad, they carry Samoan heritage, and we wanted that to be something they knew, felt proud of, and carried with ease in their everyday lives. Not just on special days, but in the ordinary moments of childhood. Playing, resting, exploring, being themselves.

This became our why. As a family, we set out to create clothing they could live in. Soft on their skin, strong enough for busy days, and comfortable enough to stay on from morning to night. Pieces that quietly hold meaning.

We approached this journey with care and humility, learning and leaning on those around us to better understand Samoan art and the meaning it carries. From this came our first hand-drawn graphics, created with intention, curiosity, and respect. Not replicas, but reflections, thoughtfully interpreted for childhood.

Our name carries that intention.

Lelagi, Romey’s middle name, speaks to the sky ~ to dreaming big, courage, and becoming.

Vai, from Tate’s middle name, represents water ~ strength, movement, resilience, and growth.

Together, lelagi•vai is about raising children who feel brave, grounded, and proud of who they are. A reflection of aiga, culture, and everyday life. Stories to be lived in. Culture carried gently, proudly, every day.
