our story

From our aiga to yours

lelagi•vai began with love, curiosity, and a quiet responsibility we felt as a family.

We’re Ash, Anthony & Sammy, and this brand was built together from the very beginning. Inspired by Ash and Anthony’s children, Tate and Romey, lelagi•vai was created from a desire to help them grow up deeply connected to who they are and proud of where they come from.

Anthony is Samoan, and his culture, family, and upbringing have been a huge part of shaping this brand from day one. As a Pasifika-owned business, everything we create is shaped alongside our aiga, with care, guidance, respect, and genuine connection to the culture that inspires it.

As a Mum and an Aunty, we wanted to help create clothing our children could truly live in. Pieces soft on their skin, strong enough for busy days, and comfortable enough to move through every part of childhood in. Clothing that quietly carries meaning.

Throughout this journey, we’ve leaned on family, learning, and conversation to better understand the depth and beauty within Samoan art and storytelling. From this came our first hand-drawn graphics, created with intention, humility, and respect. Not replicas, but reflections, thoughtfully interpreted for childhood.

Our name carries that same intention.

Lelagi, Romey’s middle name, refers to the sky ~ dreaming big, courage, and becoming.
Vai, from Tate’s middle name, represents water ~ strength, movement, resilience, and growth.

Together, lelagi•vai is about raising children who feel brave, grounded, connected, and proud of who they are. A reflection of aiga, culture, and everyday life. Stories to be lived in. Culture carried gently, proudly, every day.

Ashleigh, Anthony, Aunty Sammy, Tate & Romey 🤎
